From Raveena Mapa
Hi year 11! For those of you who I haven’t had the chance to meet, my name is Raveena and I’m one of the six new members of 11J this year.
We all know the feeling of being “new”. For me, the thought of coming to MacRob in year 11 seemed daunting at first, and naturally, I was very nervous. I didn’t know if I would fit in, how high the standards would be, and how I would cope being thrust into VCE in a completely different setting. Much to my relief, I was glad to be received so warmly by 11J and Ms McAlpine. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the form made it so easy to fit in and I am infinitely thankful to have been put in a form with such a wonderful bunch.
My favourite thing about MacRob is the unity of the students (and the Wednesday cake stalls). I immediately noticed how open-minded and accepting all the girls were, and I was overjoyed that so many people approached me and took the time to know me. With the amount of fun I had exploring the school, meeting new people, and battling SACS, the term flew by so quickly and the worries that I initially had completely vanished.
Although there had been some inevitable moments of awkwardness such as accidently sitting into a year 10 Maths Methods class and wondering where all the green jumpers were, to the times where I stood silently in numerous assemblies as everyone sang the school song, it had all been part of my magnificent experience at MacRob. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a vibrant community and I look forward to the great times ahead of me!
