For the last 2 weeks a group of Year 11 students studying Japanese have been hosting exchange students from Shinwa Girls' High School in Japan, who have been participating in exchange programs with MacRob for the past 9 years. All our girls were very excited and planned a lot of activities for the Shinwa girls.
After all the preparation the host families were excited to meet the girls at the airport after they touched down in Australia.
On the first day at school we warmed up with a session of AFL.
Our first excursion took us on a 3 hour bus ride out to Healesville Sanctuary where we met Barry the eel and Felix the platypus.
Unfortunately the rain persisted throughout the day however the animals like to come out in the wet weather.
Just like this lively emu.
Next we had an indigenous art class and painted boomerangs!
At the next excursion we went to Scienceworks, where we learned about constellations in the Planetarium, watched lightning and raced Cathy Freeman - and even made a couple of pyramids (literally).
Overall, the Japanese Exchange was a massive success and we'll never forget the friendships we made.
nice!
