Serra is new to MacRob in 2015, and she has just received news that she has won a prestigious competition.
She says:
I am pleased to inform you that I have been selected as the state winner in the Simpson Prize essay competition for 2015. The Simpson Prize is an essay competition for year 9 and 10 students, and encourages participants to think about the meaning of ANZAC day and its importance to our nation with a different prompt every year. The question for 2015 was “To what extent did Australians enlist in 1914 to defend the ‘Mother Country’?” Writing the essay was an amazing learning experience, and I am delighted with the result. :)
The prize involves two trips: one to Canberra and the other to Turkey. Firstly, there will be an awards ceremony held in Canberra from the 15th of March to the 17th of March. The trip to Turkey is next term beginning from the 16th of April and ending on the 29th of April.
Congratulations Serra!
